Barbados will be making representation for countries to have a green economic recovery plan post-COVID when Latin American and Caribbean Ministers of Environment meet in January.
Barbados’ Environment Minister Adrian Forde will chair the forum, which for the first time, will be held virtually because of the pandemic.
He says without a focus on the green economy, development will not be sustainable.
Minister Forde was speaking during a tree planting ceremony in honour of Argentinian Ambassador Gustavo Pandiani, who is preparing to demit office after three years.
The pair planted a jacaranda tree, the national tree of Argentina.
Ambassador Pandiani says his departure is somewhat bittersweet.
