PM lauds process to select chief justice

Political parties remain hot on the campaign trail in St George North, putting the cases for their respective nominees to the people, ahead of the November 11th by election.

The Barbados Labour Party held court at Golden Ridge Thursday night, with Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley explaining that the process to select Barbados’ newest Chief Justice signals a new way of doing business for Government.

Effective November 1st, Attorney at Law Patterson Cheltenham Q.C., will take up the post.

A Judicial Appointments Committee was established to make recommendations on suitable candidates for the post, a move the Prime Minister says was designed to broaden the consultative process.
