Former tourism consultant believe issues surrounding Sandals project could have been resolved

A former Tourism Consultant believes the issues surrounding tax breaks and concessions under the Sandals Beaches Project could have been resolved.

Construction of the resort was initially set to begin in January 2019.

However, in March that year, Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley announced that negotiations had reached a difficult stage because the company was asking for more than government was able to give.

Speaking during a Democratic Labour Party spot meeting in Walkers Village St George, Hugh Foster, who was a consultant under the previous administration, said the investment would have been a significant benefit to the north of the island.
