Man fined for damages while in quarantine

A St. George man received two fines Monday after appearing in court on charges of assault and damaging property while in quarantine at the Barbados Defense Force’s Paragon Base.

Police 50 year old Stevenson Squires of Market Hill, St. George appeared before Chief Magistrate Ian Weekes at the District ‘D’ Magistrates’ Court where he pleaded guilty to both charges.

Lawmen say Squires was order to pay compensation in the sum of 2000 dollars for assaulting Sergeant Chase as well as the payment of damages in the sum of one-thousand-five-hundred and thirty-three dollars and ninety-one cents to the Crown.

Failure to pay these fines by May 28 will result in imprisonment of 30 days.
