Barbados records 131 new COVID-19 cases

The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory recorded 131 new cases – 63 males and 68 females – of COVID-19 on Saturday, December 4. There were 1,158 tests conducted.

Of the new cases, 29 people were under the age of 18, and 102 were 18 years and older.
The number of individuals in isolation facilities was 314, and in home isolation, 2,126.

Three deaths were recorded on Saturday. A fully vaccinated 88-year-old man died at the Blackman and Gollop Isolation Facility, while a 57-year-old man and a 74-year-old woman passed away at the Harrison’s Point Isolation Facility. They were both unvaccinated.

Barbados’ confirmed cases of COVID-19 have reached 26,095 (12,441 males and 13,654 females), and 237 people have died from the viral illness, as at December 4.

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the total number of individuals with at least one dose is 153,984 (67.4 per cent of the eligible population). The total number of people who are fully vaccinated is 138,096 (51 per cent of the total population or 60.5 per cent of the eligible population). The eligible population represents those individuals who are 12 years and older.
