Barbados records 192 new COVID-19 cases

A total of 192 COVID-19 cases (82 males and 110 females) were identified from the 1,259 tests conducted by the Best-Dos Santos Public Health Laboratory on Wednesday, February 23.

Of the positive cases, 31 people were under the age of 18, and 161 were 18 years and older.

There were 97 people in isolation facilities, and 2,323 in home isolation.

A 92-year-old fully vaccinated woman died from the viral illness.

As at February 23, the number of deaths from COVID-19 was 312.

The public health laboratory has carried out 581,357 tests since February 2020, and recorded 54,536 COVID-19 cases (25,324 males and 29,212 females).

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the total number of people with at least one dose is 159,958 (70 per cent of the eligible population).  The total number of fully vaccinated individuals is 149,167 (55 per cent of the total population or 65.3 per cent of the eligible population).  The eligible population represents those people who are 12 years and older.
