Barbados records 362 new COVID-19 cases

Barbados recorded 362 new COVID-19 cases, 135 males and 227 females, from the 937 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory on Saturday, August 6.

Of the positive cases, 49 persons were under the age of 18, and 313 were 18 years and older.

There were 69 people in isolation facilities, while 3,358 were in home isolation.

The deaths of two males aged 74 and 84 were recorded yesterday, bringing the number of COVID-19-related deaths to 501.

The public health laboratory has conducted 735,291 tests since February 2020 and recorded 94,963 COVID-19 cases (43,087 males and 51,876 females).

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the total number of people with at least one dose is 162,991 (71.4 per cent of the eligible population). The total number of fully vaccinated individuals is 154,077 (67,560 males and 86,517 females), which represents 56.9 per cent of the total population, or 67.5 per cent of the eligible population. The eligible population represents those people who are 12 years and older.
