Barbados records 44 new COVID-19 cases

Forty-four new COVID-19 cases – 19 females and 25 males – were identified by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory from the 411 tests carried out on Saturday, December 25.


Of this number, three people were under the age of 18, while 41 were 18 years and older.


A total of 100 people were in isolation facilities, and in home isolation, 869.


The public health laboratory has conducted 465,055 tests since February 2020, and recorded 27,673 COVID-19 cases (13,163 males and 14,510 females). The deaths from the viral illness remain at 260.


Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the total number of people with at least one dose is 155,497 (68.1 per cent of the eligible population). The total number of individuals who are fully vaccinated is 142,832 (52.7 per cent of the total population or 62.5 per cent of the eligible population). The eligible population represents those people who are 12 years and older.
