Barbados records 73 new COVID-19 cases

A total of 73 people, 34 males and 39 females, tested positive for COVID-19 from the 484 tests carried out on Saturday, June 18, by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

The cases comprised 21 people under the age of 18 and 52 who were 18 years and older. The number of people in isolation facilities was 25, while 924 were in home isolation. One individual, an 87-year-old female succumbed to the virus yesterday, bringing the number of COVID-related deaths to 472.

The public health laboratory has conducted 697,476 tests since February 2020 and recorded 82,899 COVID-19 cases (37,769 males and 45,130 females).

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the total number of individuals with at least one dose is 162,534 (71.2 per cent of the eligible population).

The total number of fully vaccinated people is 153,231 (56.5 per cent of the total population or 67.1 per cent of the eligible population). The eligible population represents those individuals who are 12 years and older.
