Barbados records 91 new COVID-19 cases

The number of positive COVID-19 cases recorded on Sunday, June 5, was 91, 40 males and 51 females. The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory conducted 365 tests.

The new cases consist of 25 people under the age of 18, and 66 who were 18 years and older. There are now 45 individuals in isolation facilities and 1,439 in home isolation. One death, that of a 60-year-old vaccinated male, was recorded yesterday.

The public health laboratory has carried out 690,399 tests since February 2020 and recorded 81,518 cases (37,187 males and 44,331 females) of COVID-19. To date, 463 deaths have been recorded.

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the total number of people with at least one dose is 162,481 (71.1 per cent of the eligible population).

The total number of individuals who are fully vaccinated is 152,917 (56.4 per cent of the total population or 67.0 per cent of the eligible population). The eligible population represents those people who are 12 years and older.
