247 new cases of COVID-19 recorded as upward trend continues

The rise in daily COVID-19 cases continues, as Barbados records 247 new cases – 98 males and 149 females – out of the 1,366 tests done yesterday.

The new cases comprise 38 people under the age of 18, and 209 who are 18 years and older.

Patients in isolation facilities numbered 117, while 875 were in home isolation.

The public health laboratory has carried out 469,077 tests since February 2020, and recorded 28,310 COVID-19 cases (13,437 males and 14,873 females).

Deaths from the viral illness remain at 260.

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the total number of people with at least one dose is 155,732 (68.2 per cent of the eligible population).

The total number of individuals who are fully vaccinated is 143,321 (52.9 per cent of the total population or 62.8 per cent of the eligible population). 

The eligible population represents those who are 12 years and older.
