June 28th, 2022

1,545 males and 1,755 females make up the 3,300 students set to take this year’s Barbados Secondary Schools’ Entrance Examination, commonly referred to as the 11 Plus on July 5th.

The exam will be taken at the island’s 21 public secondary schools.

Students will be required to wear masks, sanitise, and be seated three feet apart.

Chief Education Officer, Dr. Ramona Archer-Bradshaw, in an interview with the Government Information Service, reassured parents of the importance of protecting students in the COVID-19 environment.

She noted protocols governing the exams, as well as those pertaining to how parents/guardians conduct themselves in the vicinity of the centres, would be enforced.

The examination begins at 9:00 a.m. with the essay, then the English paper.

This will be followed by a short break, after which there will be the Mathematics paper.

The entire process is expected to be completed by 1:15 p.m.
