The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory has reported 95 new cases – 46 females and 49 males – of COVID-19 out of the 1,686 tests conducted on Friday, September 17th.

There are currently 842 people in isolation.

Of the new cases, 22 people are under the age of 18, and 72 are 18 years and older. The age of one individual is unknown.

A 70 year old Barbadian male died on Friday at the Harrison Point Isolation Facility. He had co-morbidities and was unvaccinated.

Since the start of the pandemic, Barbados has recorded 6,453 confirmed cases of the viral illness (3,226 males and 3,227 females), and 58 deaths.

The public health laboratory has carried out 293,705 tests.

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, a total of 125,042 first doses have been administered, while 97,311 people (35.9% of the population) have received their second dose and are fully vaccinated.
