Staggering statistics of child abuse in Barbados have been revealed by Minister of People Empowerment Elder Affairs Kirk Humphrey.
He was at the time leading of debate on the Child Protection Bill in Parliament.
Minister Humphrey shared the numbers as he highlighted the new fines, the mandatory reporting of child abuse and the planned creation of a child protection authority, under the proposed legislation.
He told Parliament there were deficits in the current Child Protection Legislation that needed to be addressed.
