All public sector workers to return to the office in 2023

All public sector workers in Barbados will be returning to the physical workplace in 2023.

This is according to a circular issued by the Ministry of the Public Service on December 19, 2022.

The document states that while “Flexi-Time” and “Staggered Hours” arrangements will continue where applicable in the public sector, workers are required to “report to the physical workplace with effect from January 3, 2023”.

It further notes that while some “Public Officers successfully adjusted to meet the demands of every threat,” it was time for the full return to the office:

“While all of the threats haven’t fully subsided, the time has come for a return to more traditional work arrangements. You are therefore advised that with effect from December 31, 2022, all telecommuting arrangements that allowed employees to perform work-related duties from home, or other remote locations, will be suspended until further notice.”
