Barbadian police confirm arrest during drug seizure

The Barbados Police Service confirmed that an operation carried out on Tuesday 2 August 2022, resulted in a drug seizure and arrest of a suspect.

The Police Drug Squad carried out an operation involving the execution of a search warrant at an establishment. That search resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of illegal drugs, namely cannabis.

Police added that a male suspect was taken into custody as a result of that find. They also noted that investigations are at a very sensitive stage and are ongoing.

This follows reports out of Trinidad and Tobago that a Colombian national was arrested and marijuana with a street value of TT$72,063,420 was seized here in Barbados. They further state that this followed months of surveillance, intelligence gathering and collaboration with regional law enforcement agencies.
