Ukraine completed a 3-nil sweep of Barbados in their Davis Cup 1st Round, World Group One play-off match in Turkey today.
Trailing 2-nil, the Barbadian pair of Darian King and Matthew Foster-Estwick put up some resistance in the doubles tie but went down 6-4, 7-5 in one hour and 23 minutes to Oleksii Krutykh and Illya Marchenko.
It was a tough weekend for both teams, having the tie relocated to a neutral venue in Turkey after Russia invaded Ukraine.
In a show of solidarity after today’s match, the Barbadian players joined their opponents on court and held up posters that read ” We stand with Ukraine”.
