Barbados is being represented at the United Nations Permanent Forum on People of African Descent.
The second session of the Permanent Forum got underway today and runs until June at the Headquarters in New York.
The theme this year is “Realising the Dream: A UN Declaration on the Promotion, Protection, and Full Respect of the Human Rights of People of African Descent”.
Ambassador to CARICOM David Comissiong, who was invited to the event, sees the forum as important.
He was a guest on the Conversations on CARICOM segment of CBC TV8’s Mornin’ Barbados.
Ambassador Comissiong is expected to take part in a number of side events at the forum.
Haiti will also be on the agenda.
