Barbados is one of 13 countries set to benefit from the multi-million-dollar Caribbean Region Energy Sector Reform Project, being rolled out by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
Valued at just over 10 million US dollars, the four-and-a-half-year programme is set to run until September 2026.
US Ambassador to Barbados, Linda Taglialeta, says it represents her government’s commitment to the region and notes many benefits will be derived from it.
She was speaking at the opening session of the Barbados Energy Storage Solutions forum at the Hilton Barbados Resort this morning.
Energy Minister, Senator Lisa Cummins, welcomed the project, explaining it will assist the Government in its energy transformation quest and in meeting some of its energy targets.
