BARJAM reiterates call for Freedom of Information Act

May 3, 2023

On this World Press Freedom Day, the Barbados Association of Journalists and Media Workers (BARJAM) is urging restraint from members of the public who seek to attack or condemn media practitioners, especially in the lawful execution of their duties.

While noting that no one is above criticism, including media practitioners, BARJAM in a statement says any criticism should be given constructively and respectfully, fully cognisant of the inalienable freedom of expression we all enjoy.

BARJAM says the mass media landscape has changed over the past two decades.

Activities this World Press Freedom Day are centred around the theme, “Shaping a Future of Rights: Freedom of Expression as a Driver for all Other Human Rights”.

BARJAM this day is reiterating its call for the passage of the Freedom of Information Act in Barbados.
