A lack of full community participation has been identified by the Minister of State in the Office of the Attorney General with Responsibility for Crime, Corey Lane, as the biggest challenge in his fight against crime in Barbados.
He made the revelation during CBC TV 8’s current affairs programme The People’s Business last night, which examined the topic “Putting a Handle on Local Crime”.
Mr. Lane also proposed that communities need cutting-edge communication technology so they can network in real-time as they keep an eye on criminal elements.
On that note, the Minister also stated that there are not enough active neighbourhood watches.
