Businesses written about status and corporation tax

November 11th, 2021

Over 26,000 businesses in Barbados have been written about their business status and corporation tax.

Communications Manager with the Barbados Revenue Authority, Carolyn Williams-Gayle, told CBC it’s a clean up exercise geared at Barbados’ international compliance.

She said the Authority’s offices have been inundated with calls about the letters.

CBC also reached out to Minister in the Ministry of Finance, Ryan Straughn.

He says given recent international financial investigations, there was a need to be sure that businesses were functioning in the areas they’re registered in, and if non-functional, then they should file affidavits or de-list.

He added that Barbados intends to be compliant within the international framework.
