BWA pleased with progress of Belle Pumping Station repairs

The Barbados Water Authority is reporting it has been able to significantly limit outages and low pressure initially expected to impact thousands of customers in Bridgetown and surrounding areas, due to repair work being carried out at the Belle Pumping Station.

General Manager Keithroy Halliday says he’s encouraged by the rate of progress and expects BWA crews to expedite the remainder of emergency work.

The BWA GM reveals that the Authority has been working with their team at Ionics Desalination Plant on Spring Garden to pump additional water into the City.

This was complimented by the new Grand View Reservoir which has been brought online.

The new facility, along with the old reservoir on Government Hill, now adds over two million gallons of water to help serve customers in those affected areas for the next two to three days.

Mr. Halliday also gave some projections for work today and tomorrow.
