Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease in Barbados seems to be worsening, in terms of numbers and the age of contracting the illness.
The Barbados Alzheimer’s Association has many fears as people in their 50’s are now being affected and with the recent searches for elderly family members who wandered off , President Pamelia Brereton wants the matter urgently addressed with national policy.
She says we are likely to see more of dangers of this disease unfolding as the numbers rise.
Ms. Brereton, who was a guest on CBC TV8’s Morning Report, wants increased training as well as heightened awareness of the disease.
