Call to boost food production, remove trade barriers

May 27th, 2022

As Barbados and the region feverishly seek ways to combat rising food prices, the 2022 Agrofest has been officially opened with renewed optimism about the Caribbean’s ability to feed itself.

While the soaring cost of food has given this event even greater significance, the involvement of other Caribbean nations has further bolstered the excitement and heightened expectations about finding realistic solutions to fend off the impending crisis.

One of the other countries involved is Guyana, whose President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali delivered the feature address.

He warned of a looming food catastrophe as he stressed the need to boost production in the region and remove trade barriers.
