Chief Education Officer: Violence spilling into schools

January 13, 2023

The increasing violence in society is spilling into schools.

That is the view of Chief Education Officer, Dr. Ramona Archer-Bradshaw.

She said this after a fight, this afternoon, between two 15-year-old boys from the Frederick Smith Secondary School in Trents, St. James resulted in one sustaining multiple stab wounds.

The incident happened a short distance from the school.

Principal Stephen Jackman is calling for parents and the public to encourage students to embrace non-confrontational conflict resolution.

Police Communications and Public Affairs Officer, Inspector Rodney Inniss says the injured student was stabbed in the right side of his face, and in his back and shoulder.

He says the injuries are not life threatening and police are continuing their investigations.
