The Government is moving ahead with plans to establish dedicated zones for vendors in communities across the island.
Minister in the Ministry of State, Foreign Trade and Business, Sandra Husbands, says the Ministry has been mandated to begin along the main highways before branching into communities.
She made the comment as discussion on the Estimates continued in Parliament under the Ministry of Energy and Business Development head for a total of 45.9 million dollars.
The Minister was responding specifically to a query from Member of Parliament for St. Peter, Colin Jordan, regarding how soon vendors of Speightstown could expect to see vending zones in the northern town.
Acting Chief Business Development Officer with the Small Business Development Unit, Anderson Cumberbatch, says the sites identified for these vending zones include Redman’s Village, Warrens, and Top Rock, while two kiosks will be constructed at Fitts Village due to space constraints.
