By the end of the year, government hopes to have created a new Department of Family Services, which will amalgamate all critical service entities.
The plan was outlined by the Minister of People Empowerment and Elder Affairs, Kirk Humphrey.
He was the guest on last night’s Public Affairs Department programme “One-on-One,” which aired on CBC TV8.
Mr Humphrey noted it was time that the four main departments for social services were linked as one.
Also in the works is a review of the draft Bill, dealing with persons with disabilities.
The Minister hopes to have a more modern bill before Parliament in the next six months.
