Despite being hit by challenges, there’s been some progress in the effort to clear the backlog of glaucoma surgeries caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr. Dawn Grosvenor, Glaucoma Specialist at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, spearheaded the initiative during World Glaucoma Week, which ran from March 7th to 11th.
She explained the intention was to conduct about 15 to 20 glaucoma surgeries from the waiting list of about 70.
Updating CBC News on the outcome of the initiative, Dr. Grosvenor says 20 people got their eyes repaired.
