An elderly English visitor to the island has died in what Police have described as a suspected drowning.
They say the Operations Control Room received an anonymous call about 4:40 p.m., with the caller informing them that there was a man in difficulties in the seawater at Sugar Bay Beach, Hastings, Christ Church.
Their investigations revealed the man, who is in his 70s, was pulled from the water on to the shore where he was given CPR.
He was transported to hospital where he was subsequently pronounced dead.
The deceased was a guest at the Sugar Bay Hotel at Hastings, Christ Church.
His identity is being withheld pending notification of his family and relatives.
