Fire damages minimart, causes traffic restrictions

Update 7:29 am: Traffic is now flowing freely in the area of Belmont Road, St Micahel.

Original Post 6:26 am: A St Michael minimart was extensively damaged as a result of a fire this morning, Thursday 2 June 2022.

Officials from the Barbados Fire Service and the Barbados Police Service are currently carrying out investigations into the origin of a structural fire, which occurred around 5:00 am at the building known as Sam J’s Minimart, in Belmont Road, St, Michael.

Three fire tenders and 12 fire officers under the command of Station Officers Small and Perch attended the scene.

Traffic is currently reduced to one lane so the travelling public is advised to avoid the area at this time. Police officers are currently in the area assisting with the regulation of vehicular traffic.
