Severed Barbadian workers of the Caribbean airline LIAT, will finally receive a substantial severance payment from the Government of Barbados.
This was announced by Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley in Parliament last evening.
Back in June 2020, Antigua and Barbuda’s Prime Minister Gaston Browne announced that LIAT would be liquidated following increased debt and the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Nearly three years later, the Barbadian former employees are to receive severance.
The process to pay the former LIAT employees is expected to begin next week.
