Government has put on pause for now further road works on Highway 1.
The decision, according to Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley, has been taken as a result of the planned development of the historic town of Holetown, St. James.
That work will involve heavy vehicles travelling on the road.
Further work will see the road improved from Holetown to Speightstown, St. Peter.
Prime Minister Mottley says three major projects are planned for Holetown.
In response to concerns about public transportation in northern Barbados, she suggests there are no constraints at night but rather a situation where operators choose when to operate.
