The massive demand on the National Insurance Scheme’s Unemployment Fund during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic last year drained that Fund of its resources.
According to Minister in the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Investment, Marsha Caddle, the Fund received 52,282 claims from 38,000 people in 2020.
She shared the information as she explained the reason for the Resolution before the House of Assembly, to recapitalize the National Insurance Scheme.
