Government to establish record of well locations

October 28th, 2021

Government is working to establish a record of the location of all wells across Barbados.

This revelation from Prime Minister, Mia Amor Mottley during a tree planting ceremony on the grounds of her official residence at Ilaro Court.

Prime Minister Mottley says a wells cleaning programme is necessary, as the country continues to pay the price of climate change, including sweltering heat, water scarcity and intense showers.

She was joined during the ceremony by British High Commissioner, Scott Furssedonn-Wood, who also planted a tree.

It was a symbol of hope for successful negotiations at COP26, coming up next week in Glasgow.

While expressing disappointment with the efforts of some countries to reduce national emissions, Ms. Mottley says Barbados will continue to call for morality and justice.

Meanwhile, the British High Commissioner says countries large and small, all have a part to play.
