The recent gunplay across the country now has officials at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on edge.
The QEH has been providing treatment for most of the shooting victims.
The concern is that reporting on these situations could lead to reprisal killings with the possibility of assailants coming on to the hospital compound to ‘finish the job’, putting the lives of staff and patients in danger.
CBC understands this has occurred in the past under similar circumstances.
As a result, the media has been urged to refrain from confirming that victims have been transported to the health care facility.
The QEH is currently maintaining a strong security presence and lawmen are stationed on wards and other areas where victims of gun related crime are being treated to ensure the safety of workers, patients and visitors at the hospital.
