Health officials monitoring Omicron

Health officials are assuring Barbadians that they are actively monitoring developments with the COVID-19 variants.

Chief Medical Officer Dr. The Most Honourable Kenneth George says he expects Omicron will inevitably reach Barbados’ shores. He stresses however that while the new variant is highly transmissible, preliminary studies show it could be less severe than the Delta variant.

Despite this, Dr. George is encouraging all Barbadians to follow the relevant COVID-19 protocols this holiday season.
