The winter swells which are creating above-normal waves have been causing beach damage which is of high concern to the Coastal Zone Management Unit (CZMU).
In an interview with the Morning Report, the Director of the CZMU, Dr. Leo Brewster, explained why this is happening along the shorelines of Barbados.
Dr. Brewster said areas along the west coast have seen some of the greatest damage as a result of the winter swells.
There is also concern about the impact of the tides on marine life, especially turtles.
