The Department of Emergency Management says Barbados has learned a number of lessons from the most recent eruption of the La Soufriere volcano in St. Vincent and the Grenadines given its impact on the country.
Director, Kerry Hinds says Barbados was very reactive on receiving information from its partners, including the Seismic Research Centre of the University of the West Indies (UWI) and the Barbados Meteorological Service.
Ms Hinds was among the panel for a Disaster Risk Reduction Conversation organized by the UWI Disaster Risk Reduction Centre.
Ms Hinds says Barbados sought to help regionally and internationally to deal with the volcanic ash.
