Health officials are investigating the possibility of a new COVID-19 variant in Barbados, as the island has been cautioned to brace for a further spike in cases in the coming days.
The assessment from Consultant Manager with the Home Isolation Programme, Dr. Adanna Grandison comes as the country has registered a noted increase in COVID-19 numbers on the local dashboards over the last two weeks.
Dr. Grandison says while there is some level of concern, the health care system is positioned to respond to any surge in cases.
