Government is putting its money where its mouth is on the crime fight, allotting over 34 million more dollars in its Budget for the next financial year, for the Office of the Attorney General and Legal Affairs.
197 million dollars has been set aside for the 2023/2024 financial year.
The funds cover a 17 million dollar increase in resources for the Barbados Police Service.
Additionally, over 12 million will be used to establish a new Ministry dedicated to crime prevention.
Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs, Dale Marshall, made the revelation as the Estimates Debate continued in the Lower House this morning.
While lauding police officers for the good work in trying times, the Attorney General says efforts continue to modernise the service.
