Yet another hit and run incident involving the endangered hawksbill sea turtle has prompted officials to make a fresh appeal for drivers to exercise care and attention on the roads.
The latest one occurred in Gibbs, St. Peter on Sunday night.
According to Field Director of the Barbados Sea Turtle Project, Carla Daniel, the turtle’s shell was severely cracked and it required urgent veterinary attention.
While the creature is expected to survive, she says Barbadians need to be more vigilant when moving around during the sea turtle nesting season.
