National boot camp among ideas to tackle gun crime

November 7, 2022

While praising Government for its efforts in reducing the number of guns on the streets, a local youth mentor believes there is still room to enhance anti-crime strategies.

Roger Husbands of Drug Education and Counselling Services suggests authorities need to consider more early intervention strategies to reach at-risk youth.

Some of the ideas he has tabled include the formation of a national boot camp, talks with youths, especially in schools, and a mentorship programme.

He made the points during an interview with CBC News.

Mr. Husbands also says all must be done to keep youths employed.
