NCC condemns dumping at public parks and beaches

December 8, 2021

Continued indiscriminate dumping of waste in Barbados’ public parks and beaches has been condemned by the National Conservation Commission (NCC).

It is appealing to the public to stop the unlawful and unsightly practice.

The Commission which is responsible for maintaining these areas, said in a recent statement that some culprits had taken to dumping domestic and commercial waste, dead animals as well as bulk waste in the skips located at some of the parks and beaches at night.

The NCC says the situation is so bad that the skips were overflowing.

It says the bad practice of indiscriminately littering in our parks and beaches destroys the beauty and enjoyment of those areas, and hence, negatively affects tourism.

The organisation wants people to contact the Sanitation Service Authority if they are experiencing any challenges regarding waste collection in their area.
