A new regional airline hub was established today at the Grantley Adams International Airport by InterCaribbean Airlines.

The inaugural three-day service to Barbados from St. Kitts will assist greatly in addressing some of the regional travel woes.

The InterCaribbean service now means that travellers will no longer have to fly to Miami to access regional destinations.

Minister of Tourism, Ian Gooding-Edghill, says the Caribbean is an excellent tourism source market and far this year, a single month, January, has surpassed the numbers for previous years.

Chairman and founder of InterCaribbean Airlines, Lyndon Gardner, says having their hub here creates a springboard to the rest of the region.

The flight on the 49-seater was fully booked and service for the other two days, Wednesday and Friday, are also booked allowing business travel and leisure to return to pre-pandemic status, where regional airlift was a breeze and not a nightmare.
