February 23rd, 2022

CARICOM citizens will soon benefit from significantly reduced roaming charges and broader service offerings from telecommunications service providers across the region.

This morning, Grenada’s Prime Minister Dr. Keith Mitchell and the leading service providers in the region signed the Declaration of St. George’s towards the reduction of Intra-CARICOM roaming charges.

While delivering remarks, Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley, said CARICOM heads continue to work towards completely eliminating roaming charges in the region.

She views the introduction of seamless and affordable roaming as a step in the right direction.

The Declaration of St. George’s was signed by the Grenadian Prime Minister, who is the lead on Science and Technology within the CARICOM Quasi Cabinet, Digicel Group’s Director of Government Affairs Keiran Mulvey and Vice President of South Caribbean Cable and Wireless Communications, Kurleigh Prescod.

According to Prime Minister Mitchell this declaration signals the beginning of new opportunities for the acceleration of online service delivery.

He sees the elimination of the unpredictable cost of roaming as a potential driver of regional development.
