Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley says a lockdown is not and will not be a first, second or third option for her Government.
The Prime Minister made the statement in response to calls from the Democratic Labour Party to implement stricter protocols for containment of the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
Prime Minister Mottley says the decision to lockdown last year was one of the only options Government had.
However she notes today, the country has a tested and proven weapon in the form of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Prime Minister Mottley says her Government has done all that it could reasonably be expected to do and is going over and beyond to minimise the impact of the fallout from the spread of the virus on those who can least bear the burden.
