Barbados is not expected to begin any new programmes to drill for natural gas in the near future.
So says Energy Minister, Kerrie Symmonds who was responding to a query from the new St. Michael West MP, Christopher Gibbs about when residents and businesses in his constituency were likely to be added to the natural gas grid.
Minister Symmonds says while he understands the benefits natural gas provides, it is simply a bridging fuel, given Government’s clear intention to be 100 percent fossil fuel free by 2030.
