Barbadian golfer Emily Odwin will be heading to Argentina next week to compete in the Women’s Amateur Latin America Golf Championship.
The event, which is set for November 18th – 21th at the Pilar Golf Club, will feature 60 of the best Latin American amateur female players in the world.
The winner of the tournament will receive an invitation to compete at the 2022 A.I.G. Women’s British Open, the Women’s Amateur Championship and the Annika Invitational USA presented by Rolex.
Speaking at a media conference at the Barbados Golf Club, Odwin says its a golden opportunity for female amateur golfers.
In 2021, Odwin became the first golfer from the Caribbean to qualify for both the U.S.G.A. Girls’ Junior and the U.S.G.A. Women’s Amateur Golf Championships.
She’s hoping to close out the year strong and has been working hard to fine tune her game with coach Denny Foster.
Meanwhile Simon Proverbs and Xavier Wiggins will be part of the Latin America Amateur Championship which is set for January 20th – 23rd next year in the Dominican Republic.
Wiggins says he will use the upcoming Barbados Open to further sharpen his game.
