After a two-year hiatus, a simplified version of the Oistins Festival is returning this year.

The festival, which was shelved due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will be held this Easter from April 15th – 18th.

Under the theme “Simply Oistins”, patrons will be able to enjoy certain activities within the scope of the COVID-19 protocols.

The event will feature favourites including the Fish Boning and Dolphin Skinning Contests, Easter Bonnet Competition, Strong Man Boat Pull, Fish Cake Eating Contest, Egg and Spoon Race, Greasy Pole Contest, Celebrity Cook Off and the U.S. Embassy sponsored Mobile Cinema.

A variety of vendors, including local artisans and well known food stalls will also be featured.

Chairwoman of the Oistins Festival Committee, Toni Thorne says despite losing Committee members and participating businesses, and although prospective sponsorship had also been affected, they still wanted to have a presence this year.

“The festival has always been synonymous with Easter and we want to keep it that way, especially at this time when signals of renewal and hope are needed,” she explained.
